Visiting My Sister in McMinnville

Spent a day visiting my sister and the air museum.

Evergreen Air Museum

In McMinnville, Oregon. The Spruce Goose is too large to fit in one photo. There are many planes parked under it's wing span.

Felipes Mexican Restaurant

Kim, Mike, Sharon & Michelle at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Sacramento. Sharon loves their chile verde. Can't find a Mexican restaurant here in Roseburg that makes it that good.

Camel Riding At Wildlife Safari

Me & Michelle riding a camel at the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon.

Wild Horses

Sharon took these photos of wild horses near the top of Geiger Grade on the way to Virginia City.

Bucket Of Blood

As part of our road trip we went to Virginia City early in the morning to get some good photos. The Bucket of Blood saloon was always one of our favorite places. We liked listening to The Comstock Cowboys playing western music.

Herbie

Herbie is a pony in the hospital barn at the Duchess horse sanctuary. He was a neglect case. His hooves were badly overgrown and he could barely stand. They trim him up every couple of weeks but he'll never walk normal & has to be given pain medicine every morning. In the stall next to him is Nellie a 30 year old blind horse. They're constant companions. When they take Herbie for his hoof trim, she raises a fuss until they bring him back.

Duchess Horse Sanctuary

The horses are rescued from a pregnant mare operation. Drug Companies kept the mares pregnant & in a stall with no room to move for 6 months out of the year to make hormone therapies for menopausal women-Premarin. They used draft horses because they're big & produce more urine. They were branded with a number. There were over 50,000 at one time. The foals were used in the operation or sold for slaughter. There are about 180 horses at the sanctuary.

I Can't Help Myself

I just love these items in the police log. I just subscribed to the local paper because there is little local news on TV & radio. The police log especially is interesting. There is plenty of meth related crime, but it's these little things that catch my eye.
