On the North Umpqua River, Salmon swim up here and your supposed to see them jumping the falls-but we did not see any.

Logs On A Mill Pond
Logging is one of Oregon's main industries. If you live in a wood frame house in the Western U.S. you probably have some Oregon timber in your house. This is a mill pond near Coquille, Oregon. We pass it going to the coast.

Killdeer
Sharon took this photo of a baby Killdeer in our front yard. There is a family, a papa, mama and 4 babies running around.
The High Tide Cafe
In Charleston, Oregon. Charleston is a small fishing village just inside the bay at Coos Bay. You can go charter boat fishing, clamming and crabbing there-or just eat there like we did. The award winning clam chowder they claim to have was very good, but I have had better.

Mount Adams Washington
Mount Adams-at over 12,000 feet-it is the 2nd tallest mountain in Washington state. Mount Rainer is the tallest. Sharon shot this photo while we were driving on Hwy 97 at 60 MPH near Goldendale Washington. Goldendale is the first town of any size after you cross over the Columbia River from Biggs, Oregon.

Multnomah Falls
On Hwy 84 between Biggs and Portland lies the Multnomah Falls scenic area. We stopped for photos on the way back from Washington. Hwy 84 follows the Columbia River.

Sharon With Her Aunts
We visited Sharon's aunts in Washington. Ella lives in Zillah, Venita in Sunnyside, small towns in the Yakima Valley. Aunt Venita on left, Sharon in middle, Aunt Ella on right. We also visited her Aunt Anna who is in a nursing home in Sunnyside. Unfortunately she is unable to communicate but I believe she did recognize us.

The Historic Tea Pot Gas Station
This was a real working gas station in Zillah Washington. Sharon's Aunts, Venita and Ella remember getting gas at it. It is now a historical landmark.

Sunnyside, Washington
We celebrated Cinco de Mayo in Sunnyside Washington with Sharon's aunt Venita. Sharon was born there. It's a small town in farm country, south of Yakima.
